Toronto’s Brendan Neely just crushed the world record for the fastest 1K while pushing a stroller clocking 2:51 with his 17-month-old riding shotgun.

On a cool Thursday morning in North York, Ontario, Toronto runner Brendan Neely strapped his 17-month-old son into a Baby Jogger stroller, lined up on a track and made history.

Neely ran a blistering 2:51 for 1K while pushing his toddler, smashing the Guinness World Record for fastest 1K with a pram by nearly 30 seconds. The previous record of 3:19, set by the U.K.’s Jamie Hesford in 2022, didn’t stand a chance.

“I’ve been training for this with my son for almost six months,” said Neely after the record-breaking run. “It feels incredible to finally hit the goal. Massive thanks to my family, friends, and the folks at Baby Jogger who’ve supported Jack and me on this journey.”

The official attempt took place at The Hangar sports complex in North York, with a Guinness World Records adjudicator present to verify the feat.

A Runner, Firefighter, and Father

Neely is no stranger to tough challenges. A father of two, he also juggles careers as a firefighter and carpenter, all while maintaining a passion for endurance events. With 15 years of trail running and obstacle course racing experience, he’s well-versed in pushing limits.

Last August, he reached out to Baby Jogger with the idea to go after the stroller-pushing 1K world record. The brand jumped in immediately to back his attempt.

The Gear Behind the Record

Neely trained using two different Baby Jogger strollers the Summit X3 jogging stroller and the City Prix but chose the Summit X3 for his record-setting effort.

The stroller was more than just a tool it became a training partner. Together, Neely and his son Jack logged countless miles in preparation for their world-record attempt.

Now, they’ve officially rolled into the record books.
