Mark Zuckerberg Ran Fast at Stanford 5K but Still Took a Swipe at His Time

Mark Zuckerberg continues his fitness comeback, finishing the Stanford 5K in 20:35 and proving once again he's more than just a tech CEO.

Mark Zuckerberg is back hitting the pavement not just the keyboard.

The Meta CEO, whose company includes Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger, participated once again in the Stanford Medicine My Heart Counts 5K, a 5-kilometer race held in California.

This marks his third consecutive year running the event, finishing this time with a time of 20 minutes and 35 seconds.

That result improves on last year’s time of 20:58, which had been his comeback race following knee surgery due to a ligament injury sustained while training for an MMA match.

However, it's still shy of his personal best from 2024, when he clocked 19:34.

Racing Under a Pseudonym and Placing Strong

Running under the alias Martin Salzberg, Zuckerberg placed 4th in the 40–44 age group and 33rd overall out of 1,214 participants.

The race took place on the campus of Stanford University, just a short distance from Meta’s headquarters in Menlo Park.

The event raises funds for the Stanford Center for Inherited Cardiovascular Disease.

Post-Race Instagram Moment

After crossing the finish line, the 40-year-old tech mogul wearing a pair of Nike Alphafly 3s shared his experience on Instagram, with “Pretty Slowly” by Benson Boone playing in the background.

Zuckerberg’s Ongoing Journey with Running

Zuckerberg’s interest in running isn’t new. Back in 2016, he set a personal challenge to run 365 miles within the year, a goal he impressively hit by July.

In recent years, however, he shifted his focus toward combat sports like mixed martial arts and Brazilian jiu-jitsu.

After a major injury, he’s made a solid return to endurance sports proving once again his dedication to physical fitness.
