Kendrick Lamar reveals the daily ritual that fuels his mind and spirit. Find out what keeps him going every morning!

Celebrities are no strangers to running, much like the rest of us.

While their reasons for lacing up might resemble those of regular runners, what keeps them going through the tough moments can differ. For one of the world’s most renowned rappers, his motivation stems from something more profound.

During this interview with fellow artist SZA for Harper’s Bazaar, Kendrick Lamar, the Grammy-winning artist, opened up about his passion for running and how he finds the strength to keep going, even when things get tough.

“It’s not just a saying or a gimmick. I genuinely talk to God,” Lamar shared. “Sometimes, I feel like I’m losing it, but then God reminds me, ‘No, this is real.’”

Lamar explained that his spiritual connection is closely tied to his daily running routine.

“Every morning, I need to run. That’s when things started to make sense for me,” he told SZA. “There’s a point where the physical discomfort turns into a spiritual breakthrough. I remember my legs were aching, and I had just one more mile to go. But then, I started getting thoughts and ideas, and before I realized it, I was already three or four miles in. Now, it’s a daily habit.

This isn’t the first glimpse into Lamar’s fitness regimen that fans have seen.

Last year, he shared a workout video on his low-profile Instagram account, emphasizing his commitment to staying fit, earning him the nickname “Big Protein” (a nod to his impressive 150-gram protein intake).

Lamar’s not the only music star with a strong running routine.

While prepping for her massive Eras Tour, Taylor Swift revealed that she trained by singing her entire setlist while running on a treadmill. She adjusted her pace to match each song, sprinting for faster tracks and slowing down for ballads.

“For fast songs, I’d run hard, and for the slower ones, I’d jog or walk quickly,” Swift told Time. With her tour coming to a close soon, she might just need some extra endurance to cross her own finish line!
