The Grammy-winning musician ran under the alias “Sted Sarandos,” completed the 42.2 km race in 2,245th place out of more than 48,000 runners, a result that firmly places him beyond the category of a casual celebrity runner.

Styles averaged 6:50 per mile (4:15 per kilometer) throughout the race, maintaining a speed of roughly 8.77 mph (14.13 km/h).

Berlin marked only Styles’s second marathon. Earlier in the year, he debuted at the Tokyo Marathon, finishing in 3:24:07.

The Berlin result represents an improvement of nearly 25 minutes, with his pace increasing by 57 seconds per mile compared to Tokyo.

Despite unseasonably warm conditions, Styles kept his pace remarkably steady.

While his time fell 4 minutes and 13 seconds short of the Boston Marathon qualifying standard, the performance places him well ahead of the average male marathon finishing time of 4:21:03.
