Meet Jellybean a spirited nine-pound Chihuahua whose marathon feats prove that heart and determination outshine size.

In a world where endurance athletes continuously push their limits, one tiny four-legged competitor is changing the game.

Jellybean, a spirited Chihuahua weighing just nine pounds, has become a beacon of perseverance and inspiration.

Once a resident of a Sacramento shelter, her life took a remarkable turn when Andrew Owens adopted her in 2020 from Mather’s Bradshaw Animal Shelter.

At first, Jellybean showed little interest in running.

However, with gentle encouragement and a carefully designed training plan, she quickly discovered her love for the sport.

What started as short, playful strolls evolved into dedicated training sessions, as Andrew began including her in his daily routines.

Jellybean’s achievements soon caught the attention of the local running community. In her first marathon, she stunned onlookers with her unexpected stamina.

Since then, she has taken part in six marathons and three ultramarathons.

One standout performance was at the Garmin Kansas City Marathon, where she finished in an impressive 3 hours and 47 minutes, outperforming many human competitors.

Her training routine is as disciplined as it is inspiring. Every weekend, Jellybean and Andrew cover 20 to 30 miles, mixing in speed work and hill sessions.

Using an alternating run/walk approach, Andrew carefully watches for any signs of fatigue, ensuring that Jellybean remains both healthy and enthusiastic about each run.

Now a local celebrity in Davis, California, Jellybean has grown into more than just a running partner; she’s a mascot of determination.

Her regular appearances at group runs have motivated countless runners, and her journey is frequently shared on social media, capturing the hearts of dog lovers and athletes alike.

Looking forward, Jellybean and Andrew are setting their sights on even greater challenges.

With plans to break records in upcoming marathon and half-marathon events, they aim to show that extraordinary potential isn’t measured by size but by heart, grit, and relentless passion.
